A day in the course
Every weekday has the same shape. Read a short lesson with native audio, then record yourself and check it against a native speaker.
Lesson · 8 min
The Core 50: patterns 1–25
- I was wondering if…I was wondering if you had a minute.
- It turns out that…It turns out that the meeting moved.
- The thing is…The thing is, we don’t have the numbers yet.
French speakers often say “actually” when they mean “currently”. Say “at the moment”.
Speaking drill · 10 min
Pattern sprint: say all 25
- I said each frame without pausing
- My stress matched the native speaker
- I didn’t translate before speaking
School taught you grammar. It didn’t teach you to speak.
You’ve studied English for years and read it every day. But on a call you freeze, rehearsing the sentence in French or German first, then translating it word by word while the moment passes.
That isn’t a vocabulary problem. It’s a speaking problem, and the only fix is speaking: a little, every day, with something to compare yourself against.
The four weeks
Week 1
Stop translating
Break the translate-then-speak habit and learn the 50 sentence patterns that carry most everyday conversation.
Milestone: A 60-second unscripted self-introduction
Week 2
Sound like yourself
English rhythm, connected speech and daily shadowing, so people stop asking you to repeat yourself.
Milestone: Shadow and free-speak comparison
Week 3
Real situations
Meetings, small talk, disagreeing politely: phrases for the moments that make you freeze.
Milestone: A meeting roleplay
Week 4
Fluency under pressure
Telling stories, recovering when you lose a word, and answering questions you didn’t expect.
Milestone: A 3-minute talk about your own work

Questions
- What level do I need?
- Roughly B1 to B2. You read English comfortably and understand most of what you hear, but you freeze or translate in your head when you speak.
- How much time does it take?
- About 20 minutes each weekday: a lesson of around 10 minutes and a speaking drill of around 10. Weekends are for catching up.
- Are there live classes?
- No. Everything is on your own schedule. The cohort starts and finishes together, and each week unlocks on Monday for everyone.
- Do I have to record myself?
- Yes, that’s the point. You compare your recording with a native speaker using a checklist. Recordings stay on your device; nobody else hears them.
- Why one cohort a month?
- Starting together and having a fixed finish line is what gets busy adults to the end. So enrollment opens for 7 days, then closes until next month.
- Which language is this month?
- Cohorts alternate: French speakers one month, German speakers the next. The lessons target the mistakes your first language makes in English.
